How does an acupuncturist help smokers to stop?

When you stop smoking, you go through the withdrawal from nicotine. If the symptoms of withdrawal can be reduced or eliminated, then obviously you are far more likely to succeed.

Acupuncture is an excellent pain / stress reduction therapy, and deserves to be better known as an aid in smoking cessation.

Does it involve needles?

In most cases, yes, but some of our therapists can provide auricular acupuncture alone, if you don’t like needles.

Auricular acupuncture is where the therapist tapes a small stud to your earlobe with which you can give yourself acupuncture over the next few days. This ability to treat yourself is a great advantage.

We will not provide acupuncture for you unless we feel it is right. Use our Programme Finder to learn if it is, or call and speak with one of our counsellors on 0845 345 2092.

Every NSCI acupuncturist is also a member of the National Acupuncture Council, so you can go to them with complete confidence.

And finally, you will receive lifetime membership of NSCI QuitClub, so we will be looking after you indefinitely.

What does it cost, and what does it include?

The fee ranges from £100 to £200, according to your area.

NSCI Acupuncture just for Smokers includes:

  • Written materials to give you a better understanding of the issues.

  • A preliminary telephone consultation with an NSCI counsellor, if you want it.

  • A session with an NSCI Acupuncturist, plus another if required.

  • A follow-up telephone consultation with an NSCI counsellor, if you want it.

  • Lifetime membership of NSCI QuitClub.
